Following the 2006 Productivity Commission Report, Australia’s Heath Workforce, COAG agreed to introduce a national registration and accreditation scheme for health professions (NRAS).
From 1 July 2010, regulation of the Australian medical profession will be in the hands of the Medical Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Dr Joanna Flynn is the inaugural chair of the Medical Board of Australia and will address the medico-legal implications of this new scheme.
